(OTTAWA) - The Green Party of Canada made historic fundraising gains to close out 2014, raising over $3 million. This result was the most successful fundraising year in the party’s history.
“These numbers indicate to me that more and more Canadians support our vision of a democracy that is open and transparent,” stated Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and Member of Parliament for Saanich – Gulf Islands. “With this unprecedented growth, I am confident that Canadians will hear the Green Party’s message throughout the country.”
In 2014, the Green Party’s revenue increased by 36%, when compared to 2013.
The Green Party also saw an increase in the number of donors from 2013, growing by over 52% to 22 000 donors.
Bruce Hyer, Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay – Superior North, stated that 2015 would be a momentous year for the Green Party, thanks in part to these record-breaking numbers.
“Canadians have clearly signaled that they want to see an increased Green presence in Parliament and that they want positive change,” concluded Mr. Hyer.
